Geniuses, braniacs, smart people. They are the ones that push progress forward and annoy their classmates in school. Nobody would deny that some of those people are pretty eccentric. Here are the two guys that fall under the 'smart eccentrics' category.
Anatoli Vasserman
He's been to as many intellectual game shows in Russia as possible. He's like a walking library. If the guy is playing against you, you'll probably lose, unless you are your own genius. He works as a political consultant and journalist, but let's get to the eccentric part.
Vasserman said that when he was young, he and his friend made a bet that he would give up sex forever. He's been celibate ever since and not planning on changing his ways any time soon. Did I mention he is 58 years old?
The guy hasn't shaved since 1982 and his favorite accessory is the travel vest, that he wears everywhere he goes. I mean the thing practically grows on him! It ways 7 kilos and has 26 pockets or something (I didn't count myself, but people say 26).
Grigori Perelman
Now, there is a person even the smartest people on Earth don't understand. In 2006 he got the Fields Medal, which is like the Nobel Prize, and he refused to accept it! Oh, by the way, Grigori (Grisha) Perelman is a mathematician and physicist. And now, the Clay Mathematics Institute awarded him with the Millennium Prize for the resolution of Poincare conjecture. The money prize for it is precisely 1 million dollars. Now get this. He might refuse that too! Can you believe it?!
He won't contact the press, he doesn't talk to anybody about this and frankly I think Perelman really doesn't care about the prize.
I guess, you know when you are a smart eccentric, when you give up nooky and 1 million bucks!
